We accelerate innovations that address violence against women

The Concept

We seek to co-create a world where women and girls can live a life of safety and dignity.

Violence Against Women is a huge problem

1 in 3 women face violence in their lifetime. That’s over 1 billion people.

Violence against women is a huge problem

1 in 3 women face violence in their lifetime. That’s over 1 billion people around the world. Calls to helplines due to intimate partner violence increased five-fold in many countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. The UN declared violence against women as a shadow pandemic during COVID-19. It is impossible to find any group of colleagues, friends, or relatives where someone we know has not been traumatized by violence. The statistics are not just random numbers, they are personal.

An Accelerator focused on violence prevention

Communities around the world have organized themselves to address this.

Parity Lab is the first-ever incubator focused on violence prevention

Communities around the world have organized themselves to address this shadow pandemic. Be it through tech-enabled solutions or through grassroots mobilization, we have incredible women and men leading change on the ground to tackle violence. However, focused support for these entrepreneurs does not exist. We search for local innovations on-ground that target the root causes of violence. We are co-creating a network where various solutions to tackle violence are nurtured: irrespective of their location, organizational structure (for-profit vs non-profit) and mode of communication.

We focus on community-led innovations

For true gender equity to flourish, we need to change minds and hearts.

We focus on community-led innovations

For true gender equity to flourish, we need to change minds and hearts. We believe that this change cannot be led by outsiders: it needs to be community-led. We are extremely keen about organizations that are led by under-represented communities. We want to work with those who particularly have large structural barriers to access. Such barriers can include those caused by caste, class, language, and geographic location among many others. We actively seek community-led innovations, provide multilingual support and center our programs with an intersectional equity lens

We have a systems-based approach

Individualized approaches to tackle this issue are insufficient; we adopt a systems-lens.

We have a systems-based approach

Individualized approaches to tackle this issue are insufficient; we need a systems-based approach to tackle the root cause of violence and make cities and homes safe for women. Parity Lab builds an evidence-based network of local innovations and provides them with the support they need to increase their impact and scale. We also work with the private and public sectors connecting research and evidence with practice and policy.
