According to the UN, one in three women faces violence from men in her lifetime; between 30-60% women face violence from an intimate partner. While civil society (both non-profits and social enterprises) around the world have been working to change gender attitudes on ground, co-ordinated support for such organizations is not available to amplify impact at scale.
Parity Lab is an early-stage feminist accelerator for rural survivor-led organizations addressing gender-based violence. We identify women-leaders from marginalized rural communities leading NGOs, with both an extensive track record and vision for fostering change to either prevent or respond to gender-based violence. Parity Lab is an embedded support system that provides capacity building, coaching and thought partnership to our fellows and their organizations, for 12 months.

What a regular day feels like in this role
You start the day by checking the feedback received from the Associate Program Manager for an upcoming Social Media post, and accordingly edit the post to send it for a final review. It was a video post featuring a Fellow sharing their perspectives in Hindi, and the feedback was largely around translation errors in the English captioning that you included in the video. You make a note of why the translation errors occurred to ensure the same is not repeated in the future video posts.
A team member messages you, sending you a blog that they have just written, which you have to edit, suggest comments in consultation with the writer, and then upload on the website, as well as include its promotion somewhere in the Social Media calendar excel that you manage. You then take some time to remind the team to share more highlights with you for adding to the quarterly newsletter that is due in 3 weeks.
A virtual event that Parity Lab is hosting is also coming up in 4 days, so you have to upgrade the Zoom plan to ensure it includes additional features required for the hosting, along with re-sending the invite to all registered event participants. You have to make sure that the guest list is hidden when sending the calendar invite, to protect the unauthorized circulation of email ids of the guests. Next, you book flights for the team members for Parity Lab going for a field visit next month, basis the date confirmation that you just received.
You then get down to preparing for your evening call with the Founder and the Associate Program Manager, where you will be brainstorming a new campaign idea that you came up with. You wrap up the day with this call, which takes place at 7pm IST - your idea is well received, giving you solid next steps to now put this idea into action.
To apply, please email your resume, 1-2 pieces of your relevant work in communications (or portfolio), and one-page cover letter to careers@paritylab.org. In your one-page cover letter, please include what are the two ways in which Parity Lab can expand on its communication strategy, along with how one or two of your past work experiences translate well to this role, and why you are excited about this organization and role. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Last date to apply is 18 October 2024, 11am IST.
Parity Lab is a women-led organization and an Equal Opportunity employer. We recognize that lived experience as a survivor is a valuable asset for this position and encourage survivors of gender-based violence, particularly from marginalized communities, to apply.
